Harry Higgs’ Major Championship Record
Higgs turned professional in 2012 after playing college golf at Southern Methodist University. He developed his career through international and Korn Ferry Tour competition before earning PGA Tour opportunities. His rise has been built on powerful driving, an aggressive approach-game style, and an engaging on-course personality that has made him popular with golf fans.
Although he has not won a major, Higgs has competed on major-championship stages and understands the demands of elite tournament golf. The four majors require different skills:
- Masters Tournament: Augusta National rewards distance control, creative recovery shots, and precise iron play into heavily contoured greens.
- PGA Championship: Often played on demanding championship golf courses, it places a premium on all-around ball striking and scoring in difficult conditions.
- U.S. Open: The USGA setup typically emphasizes accuracy, patience, par-saving ability, and control from thick rough or firm fairways.
- The Open Championship: Links golf adds wind management, low-flight shotmaking, strategic driving, and imagination around tightly mown greens.
For a player such as Higgs, earning entry into more major fields is a vital part of improving his major championship record. Major qualification can come through PGA Tour performance, world ranking, sectional qualifying, finishing positions in designated events, or other exemption categories specific to each championship.
PGA Championship Moment That Put Higgs in the Spotlight
One of Harry Higgs’ most memorable major-championship moments came at the 2022 PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club. After completing the final round alongside fellow PGA Tour player Joel Dahmen, Higgs joined Dahmen in a lighthearted shirtless celebration near the 18th green. The moment became widely shared because it reflected Higgs’ relaxed, fan-friendly style during one of golf’s most pressure-filled weeks.
That moment did not produce a Harry Higgs major victory, but it strengthened his profile among golf viewers. Higgs has become known as a player who brings personality to the PGA Tour while still pursuing the results required to move into higher-profile events and major fields.
What Would a First Major Win Mean for Harry Higgs?
A first major title would immediately transform Higgs’ career. In addition to securing one of golf’s most valuable trophies, a major win would typically bring major exemptions, expanded access to elite tournaments, a substantial world-ranking boost, and long-term recognition in PGA Tour history.
For example, a Masters victory earns a lifetime invitation to Augusta National, while wins in the PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and The Open Championship carry extended exemptions into future majors. That is why the search for a first major remains such a defining storyline for every PGA Tour golfer without one.
